The key to minimizing risk is to be prepared — understand and learn from what happened before, improve collaboration, provide more training, and have clear protocols for everyone. Consider potential risks, then plan and rehearse responses to minimize their possible impact.
Storyline
Marcus invites everyone to dress in black with a touch of red for his Black Swan meeting (Sanjay takes it to mean wear a black dress). His aim is to explain the significance of black swan events and preparing for crises, which can occur when we least expect them. He runs Cutting Edge staff through a safety drill and asks them to predict the likelihood of things going wrong. Steve emphasizes the importance of a proactive approach to risk and the necessity of learning from past mistakes. (One such mistake was losing their biggest client Mr Garrison following Serena's flirtatious behavior at her 50th birthday.) Sam calculates that by his matrix, the likelihood of major error is over 60% at Cutting Edge, as long as Marcus is around.
