About

Some people will be far from receptive to feedback. They might not say so, but their body language is doing all the talking! Dealing with the reluctant participant entails first explaining that you want to help that person do well and pausing to seek their agreement. Ask them what they're happy with and what could be blocking them. Emphasize that it's a conversation between you (not a monologue). Take turns giving each other feedback - there will be useful points on both sides.

• Deal with negativity by explaining why, seeking agreement, asking questions and asking for feedback.
• Explain that you want to help them do well and pause to seek their agreement.
• Ask them what they're happy with and what could be blocking them.
• Emphasize that it's a two-way conversation.
• Ask for feedback as there will be useful points on both sides.
