About

When faced with difficult people, we often react emotionally. We feel anger, annoyance, frustration or hurt. Continuous exposure to these negative emotions is bad for our health, and it fails to resolve the problem. Managing your emotions during stressful dealings will ensure a better outcome. First try calming down, stepping away and using deep breathing. Talk with someone you trust and practice the art of being patient, even if the other person is negative. Remain calm and gently persistent.

• Learn that 90% of top performers are skilled at managing their emotions.
• Learn to control your emotions when dealing with a difficult person.
• Step away from the situation for a few minutes.
• Take a few deep breaths, counting to 5 on the in and out breaths.
• Talk to a trusted co-worker and vent if need be.
• Be patient, calm and gently persistent
